THE NAVE
The
large central area where people (the congregation) sit is the nave of
the church.
The people look towards the chancel, and the choir. At the far end, in the sanctuary, is the altar.
During a service, the vicar prepares bread and wine for the people to receive as they remember that Jesus Christ died for them.
